PROJECT: GOLDEN EAGLE REFINERY
CLIENT: C.E.T. ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
LOCATION: CARSON, CALIFORNIA
DESCRIPTION:
Approximately 10,000 tons of soil exceeding California Soluble Lead Threshold Concentration (STLC) was stockpiled on-site. The soil was excavated from the surface to three feet below grade of a former waste processing area on the site.
The approved Remedial Action Plan (RAP) recommended on-site treatment using chemical stabilization followed by off-site disposal of the lead fixated soil at a licensed Class III landfill.
Soli-Bond, Inc. was retained by the client to remediate the lead-impacted soil and to find an acceptable disposal location. Soli-Bond, Inc. developed the stabilizing reagent through bench scale testing and directed its application.
The remediation work included screening, stabilization, and treatment verification. Confirmation sampling was conducted for every 50 tons processed. All material processed passed verification.
Soli-Bond, Inc. contacted an acceptable landfill and obtained regulatory approval to use the processed material as alternative daily cover at a Class III landfill.
